Gythio Town | Mani Lakonia
Updated: Nov 28, 2019
Gythio is a beautiful town (the largest) of Mani Lakonia. Until the 4th century AD, it used to be the port of ancient Sparta.
The re-opened port in the ‘60s today is connected to Kithira on a daily basis and to Crete twice a week. Northeast of Gythio is the delta of the Evrotas river. Nice features of the area are the promenade, the ancient theatre if Gythio, the old tower and the city hall designed by Ernst Ziller.
