Updated: Nov 15, 2019
The Aoos river, 80 Km in Greece and 190 Km in Albania, running north of Mt Tymphe forms the northern boundary of the area of Zagori.
The sources of Aoos are in Pindus mountain, near the village Vovousa. Since 1987, the river feeds the artificial lake of Aoos that has been constructed at the altitude of 1350 meters, through a hydroelectric dam. Aoos flows through Vikos–Aoos National Park, where it forms canyons and then flows through Konitsa, where it joins with Voidomatis river.
