Some Characteristics
The village lies at an altitude of 300 m, close to Ipsarion mountain, 8 Km from Limenas (Chora, capital of Thassos). Due to its location, there are many fountains with fresh water from the mountain's stream. The village’s population reaches 900 people in August. The religious character of the village is apparent from the 12 (one central – Virgin Mary – and eleven smaller peripheral) churches. The most important celebrations of the village are 15th of August (Virgin Mary feast) and Ash Monday (carnival).
