Metsovo is a city in Epirus, between Ioannina and Meteora, a touristic center, mainly in winter, and a cultural hub of the region. It is the largest center of Aromanian life in Greece, with an economy based on agriculture and tourism.

Metsovo is famous for its merchants over the history. They started from being peddlers. At the beginning they worked with Constantinople, Bucharest, Vienna, Venice. Gradually they achieved also the markets of Moscow, Malta, Cairo, Odessa, Izmir, Damascus and Alexandria.
