The Red Beach, located in the southeastern part of Santorini, close to the ancient site Akrotiri and about 8 km from the island's chora, the Fira City, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches of the island and of Greece, famous worldwide for its special landscape, colours and materials.

The Red Beach in Santorini has volcanic red-hued sand, consisting of black and red rock from the Santorini volcano, gorgeous rocks that form cliffs and deep blue sea waters. Many visitors say that it feels like being in a Mars landscape (!) when looking at the red rocks.

The temperature there feels twice in relation to the rest of the island because of the heat produced by the red rocks. Hats, sunglasses, sunscreen are necessary, especially for kids. It is important to say that there is a guideline of the local authorities against visiting the Red Beach because of the danger for landslides, so everyone goes with own responsibility and all visitors must be careful to sit closer to the sea. The waters are generally calm, except for the case of south winds. Nudism is allowed. The beach offers rent of sun beds, umbrellas, canoes and water bicyles. On the beach you can also rent marine bicycles or canoes, while the rocks that are scattered in the small bay provide the opportunity for countless dives into the crystal clear water.

The Red Beach Santorini can be reached on foot and by sea. The trail starts from the parking in Akrotiri, specifically from the church of Saint Nikolas. By sea, the beach can be reached from the ancient site Akrotiri (boats every half hour) and with private boat from the beaches Kamari and Perissa.
