Religious tourists wish to visit the place of birth or death of saints, or the place of their spiritual awakening, or locations where miracles were performed or witnessed, or generally sites that have been seen to have special spiritual powers. Such sites may be commemorated with temples that pilgrims want to visit for their own spiritual benefit: to be healed or have questions answered.
