Monemvasia has a complex Byzantine, Venetian and Ottoman architecture, seen in Venetian churches, Byzantine churches and Ottoman hammams.

The Venetian walls of the lower city are built on Byzantine foundations, and buildings are mainly Venetian and Ottoman, apart from some Venetian monuments, like the Church of Agia Sofia and the Church of Christos Elkomenos.
