Alexis Minotis | Greek Actor

Alexis Minotis [1900 – 1990], born in Chania Crete, was a famous Greek actor and director. From 1925 until 1930 he collaborated with the famous Greek actress Marika Kotopouli in her theatre. During this period, he appeared in the Shakespearan roles in "The Merchant of Venice", "King Lear" and "Macbeth". He directed ancient Greek tragedies ("Hecuba", "Antigone" and "The Phoenissae"), Strindberg's "The Father" and Brecht`s "Mother Courage". In 1946 he went to Hollywood to appear in Sir Alfred Hitchcock's "Notorious" and "The Chase". Other films include "Siren of Atlantis" (1949), "Boy on a Dolphin" (1957) and "Land of the Pharaohs" (1955).
